I cannot remove the plastic inserts from my mallet. What do I need to do?

If the insert sits firmly on the mallet to such an extent that the handle threatens [...] loosening, we recommend the following: Use a hacksaw to saw as far as possible into the front of the insert. Then continue the saw cut on the side all the way up to the body (metal body). If this does not help, drive a chisel into the saw cut to split the insert in two. This is the latest time at which the insert can be removed.
