Safety Regulations | PB Swiss Tools
Safety instructions Your safety is important to us. Our tools are designed for maximum precision and reliability. To ensure that you work professionally and safely at all times, we recommend observing the following information: Working with hand tools Working with L-keys Working with striking tools VDE screwdrivers – for maximum safety during electrical work ESD screwdrivers VDE interchangeable handle and blades Single-pole phase tester with glow lamp or LED Working with the universal cabinet key Working with hand tools Our hand tools are designed for long-lasting performance. To ensure that they always deliver you the best results: Use the right tool for the respective application. Wear appropriate protective equipment (e.g. safety goggles and gloves) for more demanding work. Check your tools regularly. If there is visible wear, we recommend replacing them. Note: Screwdrivers are precision tools – please do not use them for levering or chiseling. Working with L-keys Our L-keys are designed for safely tightening and loosening screws by hand. To ensure safe work and many years of pleasure with these tools, we recommend the following: L-keys are not designed for use with additional power assistance. If the load is too high, the tool can exhibit elastic deformation (it bends slightly and returns to its original form). In this case, we recommend wearing protective gloves and safety goggles. Visibly bent tools may have invisible micro-cracks and should be replaced. For your safety and to protect the tool and screws, please do not use added extensions for leverage such as pipes and do not hit the tool with a mallet. Such applications are outside the intended use. Working with striking tools When working with striking tools, please protect your eyes by wearing safety goggles. Depending on the task, we also recommend wearing work gloves or other suitable protective equipment. When loosening jammed pin punches, never strike the tool on the side as this may damage it. In principle, impacts on hardened components with a hardness of more than 40° HRC should be avoided, as this can cause recoil or tool damage. Center punches with tungsten carbide points should ideally be held perpendicular to the surface. An oblique angle generates high shear forces and can damage the tip. Dropping the tool can also damage the tip – we recommend making a brief inspection before continuing work. Blunt center punches and chisels can be sharpened several times. When grinding, make sure that the tool is not heated above 200 °C in order to maintain hardness and performance. Please only use mallets that are in perfect condition – without cracks in the head or damage to the handle. For worn inserts or handles, we recommend using only original spare parts to ensure safety and optimal results. VDE screwdrivers – for maximum safety during electrical work Our VDE tools are individually tested in accordance with IEC 60900 and facilitate safe work in electrical applications. They are suitable for work up to 1,000 V AC/1,500 V DC. Before each use, please check that the insulation is undamaged. Please note: The VDE test does not imply any recommendation to work on live equipment. ESD screwdrivers Our ESD screwdrivers reliably protect sensitive electronic components against electrostatic discharge. They dissipate static charge in a controlled manner, making them ideal for work on electronics, printed circuit boards and precision components. Please note: ESD tools are not insulated against electrical voltage and are therefore not intended for work on live parts. To work safely, avoid contact with electrical voltage sources. PB Swiss Tools ESD screwdrivers are immediately recognizable by the yellow handle with black rotary cap – for maximum clarity and professional use. VDE interchangeable handle and blades For maximum safety and flexibility in electrical work Our VDE interchangeable blades are individually tested and approved for safe, direct manual use. In combination with the VDE interchangeable handle from PB Swiss Tools, you benefit from maximum safety, ergonomic handling and precise power transmission. To ensure that the tested protective function is guaranteed at all times, the blades should only be used with the original PB Swiss Tools VDE interchangeable handle. The interchangeable blades are not designed for use with third-party handles or machine drives such as drills or socket screwdrivers. Single-pole phase tester with glow lamp or LED The PB 175 single-pole phase testers indicate the presence of alternating voltage by means of a glow lamp or LED. The voltage range of the PB 175 N models with glow lamp is 200–250 V AC, and the LED version PB 175 LED is 100–250 V AC. They are typically used on sockets, switches, lamp holders and open contact points. Phase testers may only be used to detect and test phase conductors. The PB 175 single-pole phase testers are not measuring instruments. Two-pole phase testers in accordance with EN 61243-3 must be used for the reliable testing of the absence of voltage. Use: Hold the blade on the conductor and at the same time touch the end of the handle with your finger. Watch for adequate earthing. If a voltage is present, the glow lamp or LED built into the handle lights up. Working with the universal cabinet key The universal cabinet key offers five drives for control cabinets, building technology systems and water supply systems. Please lock all entry points securely after use to prevent unauthorized access.
