Dario Flükiger and Adrian Matthys win SwissSkills in the category for Automation Engineers
Dario Flükiger, apprentice automation engineer at PB Swiss Tools, had to go through a tough selection process to qualify for the professional championship which was organized by the Swissmem trade association in various companies and regions of Switzerland. The competition for the automation engineers took place from September 28 through to October 1 at Siemens Schweiz AG in Zurich. Due to the ongoing pandemic, visitors were not allowed to attend the championships live, but were able to follow through the livestream service. We were on the edge of our seats following Dario and kept our fingers crossed for him. Then, on the evening of the last day of the competition, Dario Flükiger and his team mate, Adrian Matthys, were named Swiss champion automation engineers! We are very proud of them and congratulate them both on this outstanding achievement. The victory qualifies them for the WorldSkills in Shanghai in September 2021 and we are more than welcome to support Dario on this path.
5 years twin-town agreement with Shenzhen
The promotion campaign aims to convince interested entrepreneurs from Shenzhen of the value of the Canton of Bern as a business location. On top of this, interested Bernese companies are given the opportunity to exchange knowledge and to trade with the huge Asian market. MTB Skills Park in Giswil - PB Swiss Tools supports a pioneering project Over the next three years, as many as 200 ToolBoards are to be made available at MTB trail heads and intersections and at skills parks as part of collaboration between Mountain Biking Central Switzerland and PB Swiss Tools. The boards will be managed and maintained by selected bike stores. The first spot to enjoy one of these generous gifts from PB Swiss Tools was the MTB skills park in Giswil. As he symbolically cut the ribbon to mark the launch, Hess was assisted by the reigning U23 world champion Alessandra Keller, the extreme biker and designer of the skills park Lukas Stöckli, the product manager for Central Switzerland Thomy Vetterli and others involved in the project. 9 years in the planning - 9 days to build The protracted delays in getting the Giswil MTB skills park off the ground are typical for the arduous planning process such projects have to go through. Countless interest groups had to be taken into account: residents’ committees and local communities, tourist associations, environmental organizations, hunting clubs and of course the biker community itself. Discussions focused on aspects such as trail planning, nature conservation, financing and maintenance. Previously, it sometimes took years to reach a solution that was acceptable to all. Thanks to the Mountain Biking Central Switzerland initiative and its coordination, this process will be much more efficient and quicker in future. In the case of Giswil, the construction work itself was completed in just a few days thanks to active support from the civil defence unit. Narrow provincial thinking was yesterday - the biker scene is progressive in its thinking Many ski resorts are looking to develop special offers for mountain bikers as a strategy for the summer. Ten tourism regions in five cantons in Central Switzerland have joined forces to set up the NRP project for Mountain Biking Central Switzerland in order to achieve this efficiently and professionally. However, attractive trails are not enough to ensure success in the long-term: what is needed is a range of peripheral services. “Sharing is the New Buying” – PB Swiss Tools Supports an Innovative and Sustainable Sharing Idea: Leihlager Basel – The Library of Things
Noël: “PB Swiss Tools was one of the first partners to support Leihlager”» The co-founder/marketing officer was thrilled that, of all things, he could add tools from one of the most prestigious tool manufacturers in the world to the range of items on offer. “We are proud to be able to offer our members such high-quality precision tools,” he said, beaming. Early backer and first to be borrowed PB Swiss Tools was one of the first partner companies to support the Leihlager concept. Funnily enough, a tool supplied by PB Swiss Tools was the very first item borrowed on the first day of opening. An enthusiastic DIYer couldn’t believe his luck when he came across a colorful hex key L-wrench set, without which he wouldn’t have been able to loosen off a hidden screw. “These tools are so clever and fantastically designed,” he added with some relief when he returned the set after only an hour. Successful launch of Leihlager Basel The Leihlager concept gained widespread coverage in the press and on social media, so it came as no surprise when almost 200 curious visitors streamed into the basement room adorned with bright yellow storage boxes on launch day to find out more about the scheme. In one day, they were able to sign up half of the members they had hoped to attract over the course of the first year. This included an elderly lady, who was so full of enthusiasm for the project that she signed up for 20 years’ membership on the spot with a large donation. The launch celebrations continued into the evening with a wild party featuring beats by Lachs & Lemke, the “borrowed” sounds of Breqeunzer, and entertainment by musical cabaret artist Dominik Muheim. The concept is simple, ingenious and impressive to all ages If anyone would like to borrow equipment, all they have to do is sign up as a member. Members can then borrow up to three items for free every week in return for a modest annual fee. As soon as the items are returned, members can then take out more equipment or tools. From A(llen keys) to Z(immer frames) The founders are now hoping to attract more donations of equipment to continue expanding the range in a bid to offer as many tools, items, and utensils as possible.
